In the survey 65 percent of Japanese teachers said were supervising club activities, 67 percent said they were involved in food education and 73 percent said they engaged in supervising activities of the student council and its committees.

Even outside of school, teachers are held responsible for behavioral problems and the delinquency of students. It received responses from about 6,900 teachers in 39 prefectures. Many female teachers became salaried teachers because of their family responsibilities.
